In english it is called Black-and-White Warbler.
We could't take a decent picture of this bird yet.
We have to use this nice Scan, taken out of the book:
" Birds of the Netherlands Antilles" by Prof. Dr. K. H. Voous.
You normally see this bird in dense vegetated areas, where
she grabs on branches of trees looking for insects.
Does not stay still, while searching for insects.
The " Para di Indjan " is mostly solitary but can be seen with
a couple.
Good places to see these birds are: Ronde Klip, Mal Pais, and Kristoffel park.
Story:
The elderly ( locals ):
These birds. . . . . long long time ago visit the Island. ( migrant & winter visitors )
The Indians took 2 of these birds, one male one female who at that time were
all white of colour. The Indians painted them with black markings and release
them back in the forest. The birds return the next year with their new family
painted in real black stripes. Since that moment the birds stay in the forest and
communicate with the Indians, through their dance on the tree branches.
" Para di Indjan " means in english: Indian's Bird.
Description:
