( Aranja ) Dinderere

This is a large male Spider ( Huntsman spider ).
This is one of the largest we ever saw on the Island so far.
The front legs extremities is approximately 12 cm long.
Body: 3 cm from the spinneret to the pedipalps.
The " Dinderere " has some large pedipalps.
It's legs are covered with spines.


The " Dinderere " has a distinctive " V " insignia on the head ( Thorax ).
The " Aranja Stranjo " has some
resembling but is a Wolf Spider.
These spiders are real hunters and have very good eyesight.
They usually hunt at night, can run fast, and go through tight
openings by keeping the body flat.
The " Dinderere " never builds a nest or home. She use holes, cracks and leaves as
shelter to hide or sleep.


The body can be camouflaged to fool it's prey and for hiding from danger.
She sits still for hours or days waiting for it's prey to come along.
She can keep track of the smell other insects leave behind and hunt them down.
The female " Dinderere " carry her young spiders on her back.
In case she has a cocoon, this will be attaches to the spinnerets
and carry it along under it's belly.
Their eyes are arrange in three rows of two, two and four.
