DESCRIPTION:

The " Kakalaka di awa Spiel " meaning " Cockroach of mirror waters ".
That's a word for word translation, a better translation:
" Cockroach of calm ( smooth ) waters ".
In reality the word " mirror " ( spiel ) in the name came for the following reasons.
1st: She used to come up from the depth of the water and exactly the way you see on
picture above. When she does this, part of it's back will exposed out of the water
and shine like a mirror. 2th: She used to twist ( turn ) the body completely when she
dives back into protected depths exposing it's belly ( abdomen ) that also shines
like a mirror and depending the angle, somethimes rainbow colours.
3th: She really lives in calm waters ("awa spiel") of Dams and temporary rain waters.
The body lenght, from mouthpiece to it's rear-end is 2,5 cm.

CHARACTERISTICS:

It's colour is blackish, brown with yellowish / beige insigne.
The insigne on the edge of the body remind you of a Turtle.
The 4 back legs are totally covered with hair.
She has two hooks on these legs, to grab ( anchor ) itself at the bottom
while waiting for food to swim along. Two large black eyes are part of it's
survival tools. Why ? as lookout for it's enemies and for attacking it pray.
The shiny ( rainbow colour ) on it's belly ( only in water ) comes from special
group of hairs she has. She has two "C"-shape group of hair and another group
of hair on the final rear end. These hairs have direferent contrasts ( tones) and will
glow when wet and when the sun falls on them.
