Kimara:

( Lagocheirus aranaeformis stroheckeri )

Kimara is called in english Long-horned Beetle.
Many species feed as scavengers on dead plants and animals.
Other species feed on fungi or mold, eggs and pupae of other insects.

They lay their eggs on a branch of a tree which they partially cut.
The branch will die and the Lavae will eat the inside of this branch.
They breed twice a year and these Beetles take a very long time
to complete a generation. The Larvae and/or Pupae will stay for years
in these stages before transforming into an adult Beetle.
It could take sometimes 15 to 20 years.

One very good developed body-part the Kimara has, is
her legs. The claws ( fingers ) consist of 5 parts that can
move in all directions. She can use the "fingers" to rub or clean
other legs or other body-parts.
You can observe the "fingers" if you click the 2th thumbnail below.

Size of this beetle without the antennae is 3cm.
The antennae is almost twice the length of it's body ( 5cm ).
Another interesting body feature is the spine collar she has
around the neck.
